Concern Universal not only took out the grand prize in MYOB Greentree Software UK's GAME ON competition in 2012, it has gone on to reap the benefits of using MYOB Greentree ERP software to run its business.
Like any charity, Concern Universal is very conscious of how its money is spent. The ability to accurately track and report to its many and various stakeholders is a critical business undertaking. And while we all understand the complexity of running a remote business, Concern Universal takes this to a whole new level.
It not only operates in some of the world's most remote regions with limited internet connectivity (not to mention electricity availability) it deals in currencies that many of us have never even heard of let alone had to trade in.
Using MYOB Greentree is enabling Concern Universal to manage its business very differently while it continues to make a real difference to the millions of people it helps every year. With Hoge 100's help John Hardcastle, Chairman of Allan Webb, has set up a financial reporting system, delivering strategic data to senior management.

Allan Webb Ltd is a privately owned, independent provider of technical and documentation services to blue chip clients throughout the UK and Europe. Its services also include NATO codification, parts data management and Integrated Logistic Support (ILS).
When high-quality leather bag maker JR Tusting went looking for a new business system it had a clear list of features in mind - but of equal importance was finding a software partner it could work with. When Greentree Partner Hoge 100 came to demonstrate, JR Tusting knew it had found its new ERP system - and its team-mate.
Hoge 100 showed that Greentree could solve a raft of problems, displaying all vital data in real time and in one place. All stock is now visible, order errors and paperwork are slashed, and reports can be generated in minutes, instead of days.
"We liked the way Greentree worked and the visibility of information," says Production Director Alistair Tusting, "but also critically we felt the people involved would be committed to solving the problems we would encounter along the way. Greentree is enabling us to focus on the core activities we need to build the business going forward. Without it we'd really be struggling now; with it we've got fantastic opportunities ahead of us."

Paperwork has shrunk significantly because all the data is visible instantly in Greentree and is largely managed electronically. The company's designers are now also able to add electronic specifications sheets for products into Greentree, reducing errors in orders. "Our customer relations have improved because we're now proactive in giving them information, rather than them having to ask for it." Alistair says.
"They (Hoge 100) said they'd make it work - and it did." says Alistair. "Their willingness to come and help and their commitment to the process was as good as we could possibly want it to be."
Since then, JR Tusting's problems have largely disappeared. The company now has live visibility of thousands of square metres of products in its various locations, and a much better understanding of what its customers are buying.
Ryman Healthcare is a MYOB Greentree customer in New Zealand who's complex business model required top-notch business systems to manage numerous separate companies. MYOB Greentree's Job Cost module streamlines Ryman's building projects, while MYOB Greentree Financials manages the performance of its construction business and its network of villages. Ryman's operation has grown an astonishing tenfold in the 21st century and is set to grow even more, while MYOB Greentree hasn't missed a beat.

"We're incredibly vertically integrated," says Challies, "We almost don't outsource anything." Challies joined Ryman in 1999 as CFO, and almost immediately set about shopping for a new financial management system. "We didn't have a very good financial system, let alone anything else around it," he recalls. "We were running the ledgers in spreadsheets, there was no supply ledger, and the cashbook system was actually linked to our billing system and was relatively basic. Our financial system just wasn't coping – it was locking up," Challies says. "It was administratively difficult and unnecessarily complex, so it was a lot more time-consuming than it needed to be, because there were so many people doing reconciliations and checking things off to make sure they were right."
Ryman’s software shortlist contained three contenders: Navision (now Microsoft Dynamics NAV), Great Plains (now Microsoft Dynamics GP) and Greentree. Greentree won because of its integration, particularly in Job Costing.
"We knew we were going to be growing quickly," Challies says, "and I was dead set that we were going to get as integrated a solution as possible, and also have something that was as close a fit as possible to the business. "One of the things that was a big attraction at the time, and still is, was the ability to report out of Greentree, and the Excel links. I don't recall anyone else having that ability at the time – it was a very early adopter of that." Greentree enabled Ryman to solve the problem of all those different supply ledgers for each of its companies; a single supply ledger and a single job cost ledger now link to all of them.
Perhaps most importantly for Ryman, Greentree has given it a robust business system which is still meeting its needs more than 10 years after being implemented, even through all the rapid growth that has occurred. It handles all the financial reports on the villages, as well as management reports, construction reporting on every current job, along with all the supply payments, purchasing and subcontractor reporting.
Challies is quick to give Greentree credit for helping with Ryman Healthcare’s remarkable growth. "Our progress has been fantastic, and Greentree has been a major part of that success," he says. "Its stood the test of the company growing tenfold and it's still working admirably today."
